As part of our strategic transformation, we are seeking a highly experienced, visionary, and results-driven Production Manager to lead our production operations and drive innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence across our manufacturing footprint.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cement production, including strategic planning, process optimization, quality assurance, and team leadership. This is a senior management role and is pivotal in ensuring that PCL’s production systems are efficient, compliant, and aligned with our long-term business objectives.
SOME OF THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:
- Lead the development and execution of production strategies, budgets, and performance targets.
- Oversee end-to-end daily production operations from clinker shed to cement mill, silo, bagging, and dispatch, while maintaining optimal stock levels, tracking production tonnage, and driving efficiency across all stages.
- Monitor and optimize cement mill utilization and availability to ensure consistent production output, minimize downtime, and enhance overall plant reliability through proactive maintenance and operational planning.
- Ensure timely and reliable service delivery by aligning production output with customer demand, coordinating dispatch schedules, and maintaining high standards of product availability and responsiveness.
- Manage the full clinker supply chain process, including strategic procurement, tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier performance; coordinate shipment logistics, customs clearance, and port operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery; and oversee offloading and seamless integration of raw materials into mill production schedules.
- Administer supplier and service contracts to ensure full compliance with technical specifications, delivery timelines, legal standards, and performance expectations, supporting uninterrupted production and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement across production, maintenance, and quality systems; collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Logistics, and other departments to achieve business objectives; and oversee the implementation and annual review of Quality Management Systems (QMS), ensuring TELARC and ISO compliance including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Support factory upgrade initiatives by aligning production operations with project timelines, providing technical input, and ensuring operational readiness to enhance plant capacity, and sustainability.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers, government agencies, auditors, and unions.
- Prepare and present strategic reports to the CEO and Board, covering production performance, risk, and transformation initiatives.
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Maintain strict adherence to Health and Safety at Work regulations, environmental laws, and local statutory requirements.
- Champion a culture of zero tolerance for breaches in compliance, safety, and ethical conduct.
TO BE CONSIDERED, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 5 – 8 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or process industry, proven leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial production, preferably in cement or heavy industry.
- A Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry, or Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field is required for the Production Manager role.
- Demonstrated experience in process optimization, resource management, and cost control.
- Strong understanding of cement mill utilization, availability, and plant reliability, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing output.
- Knowledge of supply chain logistics and service contract administration, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, delivery timelines, and legal standards.
- Familiarity with TELARC and ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and experience in implementing and reviewing Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Experience in factory upgrade initiatives by aligning production operations with project timelines and ensuring operational readiness.
