TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR – PACIFIC CEMENT LIMITED

TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR

We are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Technical Supervisor to oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring high standards of quality control, compliance, and technical accuracy across all raw materials and finished products. This role supports the Technical & Production teams by maintaining good laboratory practices, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring full compliance with PCL’s quality systems and accreditation obligations.

The Technical Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining PCL’s IANZ accreditation, quality certifications, and adherence to ISO and regulatory standards while guiding a small team of laboratory staff. The role reports directly to the Head of Operations.

SOME OF THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

  • Oversee day‑to‑day laboratory operations ensuring all testing activities follow SOPs and good laboratory practices.
  • Conduct and supervise quality control testing on raw materials and finished cement products.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation, test records, and compliance files accurately.
  • Support internal audits, external assessments, and proficiency testing programmes.
  • Ensure all products are tested against pre‑established standards and inspection plans.
  • Support implementation of Quality Management Systems including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and IANZ requirements.
  • Oversee non‑conformance investigations, quality deviations, customer complaints and corrective actions.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with PCL Policies, Procedures, OHS and environmental requirements.
  • Contribute to document control, SOP updates, equipment calibration, and laboratory quality manual maintenance.
  • Identify areas for laboratory process improvement and recommend practical solutions.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives connected to product quality, testing accuracy and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical support to production teams on product performance, quality issues, and evidence-based methods.
  • Supervise and guide laboratory staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and safe work practices.
  • Support team training, capability development and continuous learning aligned to quality systems.
  • Promote a culture of safety, integrity, quality and teamwork within the technical function.

TO BE CONSIDERED, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related field (Industrial Chemistry, Laboratory Science).
  • Certification in Quality Control (mandatory). Training or exposure to Six Sigma, Lean, or quality improvement tools is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing laboratory environment.
  • At least 1–2 years supervisory or senior technician experience.
  • Experience supporting IANZ certification, ISO audits, or laboratory quality systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with quality assurance processes such as non‑conformances, deviations, audits and customer complaints.
  • Strong laboratory technical skills and knowledge of cement/materials testing.
  • High integrity, reliability, and understanding of safety and compliance obligation.
