INTERNAL AUDITOR – BASIC INDUSTRIES LIMITED

We are looking for an experienced, and results – driven Internal Auditor in providing assurance on the effectiveness and strength of governance, risk management and control at Basic Industries Limited targeted at providing quality services and sustainable returns to its stakeholders. This position plays a key role in ensuring that BIL Group audits and investigations are completed in accordance with standards, practices and policies and guidelines issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors Global Inc, FHL Group Internal Audit Charter, FHL Group Internal Audit Policy and Procedure Manual. This role will report directly to Manager Internal Audit and will be based in the Vatuwaqa office.

SOME OF THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of business processes in scope for assigned audits and document the processes in flowcharts and/or process narratives.
  • Identify and document the inherent risks and controls within the business.
  • Participate and provide support to the MIA in opening meetings with clients to explain the scope and objectives of the audit engagement to client.
  • Participate and provide support to the MIA in closing meetings with client at the end of fieldwork, providing clear explanations for identified issues.
  • Assist the MIA in developing and documenting a plan for each engagement, including the engagement’s objectives, scope, timing, and resource allocations. The plan must consider the organisation’s strategies, objectives, and risk relevant to the engagement.
  • Identify, analyse, and evaluate sufficient, reliable, relevant, and useful information to achieve the engagement’s objectives.
  • Document sufficient, reliable, relevant, and useful information to support the engagement results and conclusions.  
  • Prepare audit findings containing observations, comments and propose practical and value-added recommendations based on work – carried out to address control weaknesses and/or processes inefficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with all levels of staff with the organisation, including Senior Management.
  • Collaborate with other risk management functions within the organisation such as Compliance, Risk Management, and IT.
  • Effectively manage and document time spent on audits to ensure optimisation.
  • Assist in conducting investigations into complaints and allegations of fraud, corruption and ethical breaches received under the Whistle-blower Policy, from Management, Board, and staff.
  • Assist in undertaking fraud risk assessments in the BIL Group.
  • Any other duties allocated by MIA.
  • Assist Group FHL audit team or other group project if required subject to attending all work commitment for BIL.

TO BE CONSIDERED, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business Administration, Governance, Fraud or related discipline.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, with extensive knowledge and experience in governance, risk, audit, and compliance.
  • Sound economic, business and industry specific knowledge and acumen relevant to the BIL Group including investment, accounting, tourism, manufacturing, media, finance, retailing, and construction.
  • Knowledge of data analytics & governance and best practices & international standards including the GRC, Project Management, Fraud and Change Management Models.
  • Thorough understanding of the regulatory and legal environment within which the BIL Group operates including disruptive technological developments and risks.
  • Competent and confident in accurately & ethically managing, guiding, and delivering Board, Audit Committee, CEO and Management
  • Demonstrated capability to integrate applicable laws, regulations, frameworks, and standards into routine business operations, while producing comprehensive reports and delivering clear, concise executive summaries.
