Our History

In 1984, a new chapter began for the iTaukei people of Fiji. Their leaders had a vision – to ensure that indigenous Fijians were not just participants, but true stakeholders in the nation’s growing economy. From that vision, Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL) was born What started as an idea to give the iTaukei a meaningful presence in the business sector quickly became a powerful force for change. Provincial councils, the iTaukei Land Trust Board, the iTaukei Affairs Board, Tikina and Village groups, co-operatives, family companies, and individual iTaukei came together. Together, they built a company that could invest in some of Fiji’s largest businesses, securing for the iTaukei people a rightful place at the heart of the economy.

But FHL was never just about shares and profits. It was about people. It was about creating opportunities where there were none, and preparing a generation of young iTaukei to stand tall in the world of business. Through training and mentorship, powered by its group of subsidiaries, FHL began grooming tomorrow’s leaders leaders who would carry this vision forward.
